Vikon introduces new PICmicro based single board computer productsNew products expands our support of the Microchip PIC.3/16/2001 -- Vikon Technologies is introducing a new line of products for several new PICmicro parts. This expands on the companies current successful product line. Vikon will begin offering Single Board Computers based on the Microchip PICmicro PIC16F6XX and PIC18C4XX family of microcontroller units. In addition Vikon will be offering a wide range of products and services for the new PIC family parts. Vikon will offer custom design and programming as well as standard off the shelf products. Vikon is also spotlighting the Micro Engineering Labs Pic Basic , Pic Basic Pro, and Epic Pic programmers which it added last year to its product line up. Special bundle pricing is available which incorporates one of these products with a Vikon PICmicro based SBC. Vikon is shipping the PIC-ICD, and In Circuit Debugger for the PIC16F87X family of Flash micros. The PIC-ICD works with Microchip's MPLAB and offers more capability than Microchip's ICD as well as less restrictions. Vikon will also begin shipping additional special function integrated circuits based on risc mcu cores. These new integrated circuits can be used with Basic Stamps, Simmsticks, and in new designs with other single board computer. Some of the new ICs include a Serial (or I2C) LCD/VFD/ keypad interface, I2C or Serial Parallel Expander, Multifunction peripheral interface, and various other peripheral functions. Support will be direct from Vikon. Sales will be through dealers as well as Vikon direct. Vikon will introduce a line of programmers and single board computers for the MC68HC908 family beginning in May 2001. Vikon will start shipping the chips immediately. All products are distributed direct and through a dealer network. Target customers include engineers, product designers, research scientists, academic users and hobbyists. Vikon also develops software products that are in use at several of the Fortune 500 Corporations, government
facilities and educational institutions.
